SCA AND WEST COAST RADIO JOIN FORCES TO EXPAND DIGITAL AUDIO REACH IN WA

Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) and West Coast Radio have today announced a new strategic partnership to expand digital audio access and monetisation across Western Australia. From September, West Coast Radio’s stations, Coast FM and WAVE FM, will officially join the LiSTNR digital audio ecosystem, making both stations available to stream on LiSTNR for the first time.

Building on an existing broadcast sales partnership in Western Australia, this expanded collaboration brings West Coast Radio into SCA’s market-leading LiSTNR digital audio network. This new digital audio partnership will enable dynamic ad insertion (DAI), powered by LiSTNR’s industry-leading AdTech Hub capabilities that provide deep audience insights and precise targeting. It will also extend LiSTNR’s footprint across regional WA.

John Kelly, SCA CEO said the partnership delivers a personalised listener experience, expanded device availability and new revenue streams for West Coast Radio.

“We’re excited to welcome Coast FM and WAVE FM to the LiSTNR platform as part of our strengthened partnership with West Coast Radio,” Kelly said: “This expansion not only bolsters our regional presence in WA but also enhances the digital experience for listeners through smarter, more personalised audio. It gives advertisers greater reach and access to a known, addressable audience, enabling deeper insights, and more effective geo-targeted campaign opportunities across LiSTNR’s full digital ecosystem.”

West Coast Radio is a leading regional broadcaster serving the Mandurah and Peel region of Western Australia. With a strong local presence and deep local engagement, the network operates two flagship stations: 97.3 Coast FM, on air since 1996, and 91.7 The Wave, launched in 2018. According to the latest Xtra Insights survey (2025), Coast FM and The Wave command a dominant combined 44% share of the 10+ audience, reflecting their trusted local voices, quality programming and loyal listenership.

Adam Bassett-Scarfe, West Coast Radio Chairman, added: “Joining LiSTNR is a pivotal move for West Coast Radio and our market leading brands The Wave and Coast FM. It allows us to expand our digital offering and connect with audiences in new and meaningful ways. We’re proud to be part of a platform that prioritises innovation and audience engagement. This partnership reflects our commitment to delivering high-quality content and creating new opportunities for our advertisers.”

This new partnership expands SCA’s reach to 135 stations nationally, offering advertisers access to a potential audience of up to 10 million Australians.
